Comment / A lucky shot here as Ryanair's Boeing 737-800 EI-CTA approaches Stansted's runway 23, whilst an easyJet B737-700 descends in the background for runway 26 at nearby Luton.

Comment / Good to be back around Stansted again, and to see the Turkish Airlines route to Istanbul now bumped up to a daily service. Boeing 737-800 TC-JGD shows some signs of wear and tear here as she climbs away from runway 23 on her way back to Turkey. Two weeks later, on the 13th January 2007, this aircraft slid off the runway in icy conditions at Oslo, thankfully with no injuries to those on board.

Comment / After a being an all-too-common sight at Stansted for a number of years, easyJet finally withdrew its last Boeing 737 series -300 last month. Seen here at Stansted in golden evening sunlight late last autumn, G-EZYM arrives on runway 23 - she is now flying for Virgin Nigeria as 5N-VND.

Comment / The Boeing 747 freighters of Air France Cargo are regular visitors to Stansted in connection with the Formula 1 races. This series -400ER F-GIUD visited this evening to pick up some cars for the upcoming race in Shanghai, with a Malaysian 747 stopping by yesterday to pick up TV equipment.

Comment / With a low pressure system currently flirting with the east coast of the UK, there was plenty of wing vortex action at Stansted this evening. By far the best 'performer' was this FedEx MD-11 which produced a trail from a good 6 or 7 miles out. N577FE is an ex. Mandarin aircraft registered B-18172.

Comment / The weather forecast for this evening was supposed to be nice and clear, but a few lingering thunderstorm cells around Stansted meant that it was anything but. G-ZAPU arrived just as a bright shaft of sunlight pierced through the clouds giving this atmospheric shot against a dark, stormy backdrop.

Comment / This Boeing 727-200 was a surprise arrival during a gloomy spell at Stansted - she is ex. 9K-AFA of Kuwait Airways and is now registered to Wilmington Trust Co Trustee.

Comment / N767A arrived at the Stansted over the weekend, parking up on the northside apron.

Comment / Two for the price of one! easyJet A319 G-EZNM goes over the top seconds before touching down on runway 23, as another heads over the airfield for a downwind left hand approach.
